A vibrant new neighborhood gathering place has opened in the burgeoning community of Lafayette. Named after the Chefs young daughter, Gigi creates a stylish, yet casual spot. Jeffrey Amber who ran the venerable Moose’s Restaurant, after a very successful tenure at the highly touted XYZ Restaurant (W Hotel, San Francisco) where he garnered a Rising Star Chef Award from the San Francisco Chronicle, as well as numerous other accolades, and most recently oversaw the three kitchens for Chow Restaurants. Jeffrey has teamed up with long time friend Roxanne Logan who has managed some of Monterey counties finer establishments, as well as all three Chow locations. Together they are committed to creating an accommodating, and exciting experience. With a fairy tale cottage setting, the seasonally driven menu will feature local artisans, and farmers, from organic coffee and teas, to naturally raised beef. Gigi, housed in a 1922 cottage, was the original home of the blacksmith who ran the historic iron forge in Lafayette. The space is intimate, personal, and inviting. The dining room is awash in soft yellows, with natural redwood beams, walnut tables and chairs, and an expansive brick patio. The cozy bar area is expanded by a large community table that over looks quiet Brown avenue. The sophisticated, yet accessible menu includes such entrees as; English Sole, with shitake mushrooms, torpedo onions, red marble potatoes, and brown butter vinaigrette, as well as a Natural Rib-eye with a wild mushroom stuffed crepe and burgundy jus. This affordable, neighborhood restaurant serves dinner six nights a week. Lively and personal, Gigi is a place for friends to gather in a welcoming, unpretentious environment and celebrate the Bay Area.
